Do You Like To Consider Yourself A Elite Professional In The Fitness Industry? Or Perhaps You believe You have What It Takes? Are You A Stand Out Professional In Your Gym? Do You Have The Desire To Be Amongst The Next Generation of Super Coaches To Grace The Fitness Industry?

The reality is, not everyone has what it takes to be a super star in life, in every profession and in every sport there are those that are stand out performers, the cream of the crop, the crème de la crème who are the elite PROFESSIONALS.

To be at the very top of your profession it requires a lot, often a whole lot more than what you may have initially thought.

It’s often thought that those that succeed “got lucky” or were born with some magical super powers that attracted success and gave them all the opportunities in life that were required for them to succeed and achieve greatness…

The question is, did they get lucky or did they just work harder, longer and more often than anyone else? Did they make better choices that opened up certain opportunities for them to blossom into? Did they approach their career with a relentless “i’ll do what it takes” mentality with a desire and hunger for success so great that nothing would have been able to stop them?

I strongly believe that the harder you work, the luckier you get! Luck doesn’t happen to you, it happens because of you. Opportunity and success happen as a result of the countless actions and choices that you make that drive you on towards your goals every day.

You may be saying “I take actions! I do things that drive me forward!” My questions to you would be “In the amount necessary to ensure success is the only possible outcome? Are you completely devoted to success or do you have a plan B?”

So, are you generating the volume and the sheer number of massive actions needed? Because this is the key to success…

This approach doesn’t leave luck or success to chance, it takes success and progress into your own hands by assuming responsibility for the outcome… This is what a PROFESSIONAL or A Grade player does. This individual has a plan and executes it perfectly with laser like focus, game in and game out.

The opposite to this approach leaves luck or success up to circumstance(s) or some mystical fairy in the air and assumes no responsibility but rather passes the buck on and will live playing the blame game with no control of how the games plays out… This is what a AMATEUR or B grade player does. This individual has a “hope plan” and sometimes will score and more often than not will miss and fail due to poorly executed plays and a half hearted focus with a “good enough” mentality and approach to his craft and chosen profession.

The Two Types Of Players

There are only two types of players in business, the A-grade player and the B-grade player. One is a PROFESSIONAL (A-grade player) operating and performing at such levels that the amateur (B-grade player) cannot understand or keep up with…

What’s the difference between the two? Let’s explore them…

The A-grade Player

This player is a PROFESSIONAL. This player takes their career seriously, by the time they hit the big leagues they have spent countless hours on the training field when no one is watching, drilling, practicing, in the gym building strength, watching tapes and reading play books, studying other professionals in their industry to understand the habits and actions that they could possibly copy and emulate to help them improve.

This PROFESSIONAL devotes more time, money and energy than anyone else they know. They work harder than anyone else because success to them isn’t an option, it isn’t a choice, it isn’t something nice that they would like to achieve… no. It’s the only Option. It’s the only choice. Success to them is an OBSESSION.

They will do whatever it takes to make their dreams come true, they will push harder and longer than their competition to ensure that they always have the upper hand and the edge.

As a result of this, they get all the fame and glory. They get to play in the big stadiums, they get on the cover of magazines, they get the hot dates, they get to drive the best cars, they get the big houses, the fancy holidays, they get to wear the fancy clothes, they get to dine at the best restaurants and skip the cue and get priority seating… they also get the big pay days!

They are the “lucky ones”. This luck, they created through their pure grit and determined approach to being the very best because second best to them is just as good as being the first loser.

So in the context of the fitness PROFESSIONAL, what do they do that makes them a PROFESSIONAL?

  • They continue to study, always learning and looking for ways to improve and do it better
  • They listen to audio books whilst travelling to work
  • They analyse their business and customer satisfaction
  • They control time, time doesn’t control them
  • They work harder than anyone else, not waisting a moment
  • They make sacrifices when necessary to advance their careers
  • They have a plan and execute it by not deviating from the plan
  • They have a coach, to whom they listen to and take instructions on board
  • They analytically review their performances to see what they could have done better
  • They are positive, always grateful for their life and what they have
  • They surround themselves with other professionals to inspire them
  • They always aim to perform at the highest level
  • They take responsibility for how things play out for them
  • They dictate who they work with, how often they will work with them
  • They dictate what they are worth and demand nothing less
  • They are full of passion for their industry
  • They don’t negotiate their fees
  • They are all in!

This player is in complete control, this player will dictate who they work with, how often they work with them and how much they expect to be paid for their services.

This player is on a journey of mastery. Mastering their craft. Perfecting their skills to stay at the top.

The B-grade Player

This player is an amateur. This player doesn’t take their career seriously, instead of having spent countless hours on the training field, drilling, practicing, training in the gym building strength, watching tapes and reading play books, studying what other professionals in their industry are doing, they have divided their energy into different industries and spent more time playing computer games and serving drinks at the local night club for extra cash with the added bonus of scoring a hot date than studying and working on their business.

This amateur isn’t devoted at all, they would rather spend money on a holiday than on a book that will teach them about marketing or sales. They are always moaning about the fact that they have to work and blaming everyone and everything but themselves for why they don’t have enough business… They have an Option B . They create other choices and options as a fall back for if they don’t quite succeed. Success to them is a dream that they don’t wake up from and start taking action.

They wont do whatever it takes to make their dreams come true, they will barely do the bare minimum. They work with an attitude of self entitlement and then complain when things aren’t turning out so well.

As a result of this, they don’t get any fame and glory. They don’t get to play in the big stadiums and are confined to the B grade and playing in the little stadium out back, they don’t get on the cover of magazines but have a Instagram page with 300 followers, they don’t get the hot dates, they don’t get to drive the best cars, they don’t get the big houses, the don’t get fancy holidays, they don’t get to wear the fancy clothes, they don’t get to dine at the best restaurants and they wait in the cue for hours if they do and then get seated next to the toilet… they also get paid peanuts!

They are the “unlucky ones”. This lack of luck, they created through their laziness and half hearted approach to life and business.

So in the context of the fitness amateur, what do they do that makes them a amateur?

  • They don’t study, they believe they know enough
  • They don’t listen to audio books whilst travelling to work, they play Pokemon instead
  • They don’t analyse their business or give it any thought
  • They don’t control time, time controls them
  • They don’t work harder and would rather go home at 2pm
  • They don’t make any sacrifices to advance their careers
  • They don’t have a plan, they have a hope plan
  • They don’t have a coach, they now it all
  • They don’t look analytically at their performances to see what they could have done better
  • They are negative, always ungrateful and expecting more for nothing done
  • They don’t surround themselves with other professionals to inspire them
  • They don’t always aim to perform at the highest level, good enough is good enough for them
  • They don’t take responsibility for how things play out for them, they blame others
  • They take on any client that asks them to train them
  • They negotiate their prices and adjust their packages based on what someone is willing to pay
  • They don’t live with passion for their industry
  • They negotiate their fees
  • They are not all in!

This player is an amateur, this player will always be struggling to build their business and find themselves complaining about the quality of clients they work with.

Professionals attract professionals. If you want better clients, you need to be better yourself!

This player isn’t on a journey of mastery, this player has an expiry date on their head in the fitness industry and is on their way to working full time at another job that they hate.

Aim to be a PROFESSIONAL, aim to be the very best you can be.
